About me

Where did you grow up?:

Athens…A small town in East Texas.  Not Greece.

What were you involved in during high school?

Theater, Band, Student Council, Interact, Key Club, Future Teachers of America (I got a day off from school to “student teach” each year!)

What degree did you earn in college?

B.S. in Radio-TV-Film and Religion from Texas Christian University & Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of North Texas

How long have you been working with students?

10 years

What do you like best about working at College Admissions Assistance?

I have always loved speaking to parents and helping them through a very difficult and stressful time.

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?

I love playing and listening to music.  Searching for indie bookstore and coffee shops is the first thing I do any time I travel.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I always leave room in my luggage for any books I might buy.

What career did you want to do as a kid?

I always wanted to be happy and help people.

What did you like best about college?

College was the first time I was able to think on a higher, existential level.  I loved reading about history and people from a young age, but once I took my first religion and film analysis class I was addicted to learning and being surrounded by thinkers.

What is one piece of advice you would give someone applying to college?

Visit the school!  Something intangible happens during a school visit.  You can research everything and think you know if the school is right for you, but once you walk on campus and are surrounded by the students you’ll know if it’s the right fit for you in seconds.

What is the best advice you received during your college planning?

I don’t remember receiving any advice.  Perhaps that’s why I attended three universities and a junior college before graduating!
